Why wear baby?

Bonding ~

When a baby rides in a sling attached to his mother or father, he is in tune with the rhythm of her breathing, the sound of her heartbeat, and the movements his mother makes .  The sling is
in essence a "transitional womb" for the new baby, who has not yet learned to control his
bodily functions and movements.  Mechanical swings and other holding devices do not
provide these same benefits.

Ease~

Carrying your baby in a sling allows for your hands to be free in order to go about daily tasks.  Slings are also extremely helpful during times when using a stroller would be inconvenient .  It is much easier to slip on a sling than to drag out and unfold the stroller.  Unlike frontpacks, slings can be used from infantcy through toddlerhood.

Learning & Developement ~

Slings put your baby at the height of people’s faces instead of at their knees therefore encouraging social interactions and are more intimately involved in their parents’ world. They are more exposed and engaged in what is going on around them.   Carried babies demonstrate advanced speech development and enhanced visual and auditory alertness.

Welcome !
Baby slings have been an integral part of the transition between life in the womb and life in the world. There is a closeness that a sling provides
that no other method of holding a baby can.  The warmth, the heartbeat, and the bond between mother and child.  All of these are at the center of what is important in parenting a new baby.  Baby slings are the most effective and simple way to maintain the warm, natural connection a child has with its mother. Infants spend less time crying and fussing and more time in quiet alertness.  Whether you're shopping for a specific carrier, looking for which carrier is right for you and your baby, or just trying to find more information about baby wearing, I hope you find it here at Happy Baby Wearing.
